After stopping, Seymour, the driver of the vehicle, ran from the scene on foot, police said.

The deputy chased Seymour for about a quarter mile before catching and detaining him, according to police. Dispatch told the officer the vehicle was stolen.

When other deputies arrived at the scene, the vehicle and the second occupant, Poller, were gone.

Witnesses told police that they saw Poller climb into the driver seat and leave the scene. A witness followed Poller and informed police.

A short time later, a deputy found the car parked in the 18600 block of the Eastex Freeway, and saw Poller walking away from it.

Poller was brought back to the original scene, where she was identified by a witness as being the one who left the scene.

“This reiterates how dangerous it is on the streets for our law enforcement personnel, you never know what traffic stops will lead to. Also, that our citizens are behind us, as illustrated in this particular incident,” Constable Mark Herman said.

Seymour was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading arrest with previous convictions. He was booked into the Harris County Jail. His bond was set at $30,000.
