A man who investigators say confessed to killing another man in 1997 appeared in court Friday morning.
Louis Jerome Jackson, 32, was read his probable cause in a downtown Houston courtroom.
Earlier this year, investigators said Jackson, who was in prison serving time for another crime, wrote to authorities to say that he played a role in the deadly shooting of 20-year-old Jevonnie Jenkins.
Police say Jenkins was shot when Jackson and another male robbed Jenkins and a friend as they sat on the porch of the friend's home.
Jackson is now charged with capital murder.
During Friday’s court appearance, Jackson said Buddha came into his life and he felt remorse, so he wrote a letter to the judge confessing to his part in the crime.
