HOUSTON – A man wanted in connection with several home burglaries on Houston's northeast side has been seen on surveillance video arriving at a pawn shop with a cat, police said.
Charles Booker, 29, of Houston is wanted on a parole violation following an earlier burglary, but veteran Houston police investigator Greg Shelton also wants to question to Booker about five home burglaries in the Sterlingshire neighborhood off Mesa Road.
"We feel pretty confident with the evidence that we would like to speak with Mr. Booker," said Shelton.
Thousands of dollars worth of belongings, including jewelry and electronicsm were stolen Feb. 6 and Feb. 7 from five homes on Kerry Glen, Sterlingshire, Caballero and Gillman streets.
"Everyone is alert about what's going on and keeping an eye on each others' houses," said resident Karen Sharp.
Sharp said a burglar or multiple burglars broke in through her front door in broad daylight and stole three televisions, a computer tablet and jewelry.
A man, identified as Booker by police, is seen on surveillance video pawning Sharp's tablet. Another clip of the video shows Booker arriving and leaving in a car with a cat roaming around in the front passenger seat.
Police are asking those with information leading to the arrest of Booker to call Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS.
"Whoever did this needs to be prosecuted," said Sharp.
