Man wanted for 'skimming' at Houston-area Walmart stores

District attorney's office: Harris County judge was a victim

HARRIS COUNTY – Authorities are asking for help as they try to locate a man who purchased items using a fraudulent credit card.

The Harris County District Attorney's Office and Crime Stoppers say stolen financial information was electronically entered onto a card that the wanted man used at two Houston-area Walmarts.

Officials said the gift cards were purchased on February 17 at the stores located in the 12300 and 7000 blocks of FM 1960.

Authorities describe the wanted man as 6-feet-tall with an athletic build and a thin beard.

Anyone with information about the identity of the man should call Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS (8477).

In this incident, authorities say a Harris County judge was the victim of skimming, a process where crooks illegally copy information from the magnetic strip on the back of a debit or credit card.

Officials said it is very unlikely that the judge was the only victim.
