Man accused in deadly north Houston crash appears in court

HOUSTON – A man accused of causing a deadly crash in north Houston appeared before a judge Saturday.

Josue Reyes, 22, has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter. Reyes is accused of slamming his Ford F150 pickup truck into the back of a Mustang at the intersection of Aldine Bender Road and North Green Blvd Saturday morning.

"The Mustang spun out if control and caught fire, killing the front seat passenger of the Mustang," said Deputy C. O'Bryant, Harris County Sheriff's Office.

The driver of the Mustang, officials said, escaped unhurt. As did Reyes, who's accused of trying to flee the scene.

The Mustang was stopped at a traffic light on Aldine Bender Road and North Green when Reyes allegedly rear-ended it.

Investigators said Reyes failed field sobriety tests and blew a .15 during a breathalyzer test.

A judge set bond at  $50,000.

The name of the female passenger of the Mustang who died was not released.
