Police determined John David Williams, 38, was intoxicated. He also had blood on his hands and feet and his wife's shirt was ripped, leading police to believe there was a physical altercation.

Police said while talking to Williams, he claimed to know what type of bullets their body armor would resist. He then went to his bedroom and police heard Williams chamber a round into a rifle. Officers retreated and looked for cover.

Police said Williams walked out of the apartment at 2:18 a.m. and began yelling and threatening the witness who called the police.

Police were able to apprehend Williams and did a sweep of his apartment, where they found a modified AK-47 rifle and a 30-round magazine. Williams also reportedly had one round of rifle ammunition in his pocket during his arrest.

Williams is charged with retaliation against police officers for threatening them by loading the rifle and further preventing them from performing their duties due to the threat.

His bail was set at $40,000.
