Teen stabbed in back while waiting in line at Poppa Burgers, police say

HOUSTON – A teen was stabbed in the back Tuesday afternoon while waiting in line at a burger joint near downtown Houston, police said.

The stabbing was reported about 4:40 p.m. at Poppa Burgers at North Main and Harrington streets.

According to Houston police, a northside high school basketball player, Ricky Davila, 19, was waiting to order food when Michael Jones, 30, walked up behind him, stabbed him several times and fled.

The victim was taken to Ben Taub Hospital to be treated. His condition was not immediately released.

Police said Jones was later located at a home on nearby Everett Street and arrested.

Jones was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was being held in jail on $30,000 bond.
