Man sought in mosque burglary in Fort Bend County

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – Authorities are asking for your help to find a man who burglarized a mosque in Fort Bend County.

On the morning of Jan. 10, Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office deputies say they were called to the Maryam Islamic Center in the New Territory subdivision for a report of a burglary. Deputies say a suspect entered the worship center between the hours of 11 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, and 5:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10.

A representative of the center told deputies that an unknown worshiper was the last to leave the building on Jan. 9 and did not lock the doors, which has happened before.

Video shows an unknown black male entering the center wearing a white long-sleeve knit shirt, tan pants and a beanie cap.

Three small safes with unknown amounts of cash were taken from the facility.
