Man shot to death by La Porte officer after refusing to drop shotgun

LA PORTE, Texas – A man was killed by La Porte police Aug. 28 after pointing a shotgun at officers, authorities said.

Just before midnight, police responded to reports of a disturbance between neighbors in the 3800 block of Barracuda Lane.

When officers arrived, a man was seen reloading a shotgun through a window, according to authorities.

The man then opened the door and pointed the gun at officers, authorities said.

Officers repeatedly asked the man to drop the gun, but he continued to point it in the officers' direction, according to authorities.

A La Porte officer shot and killed the man.
