Man shot, killed in northwest Harris County

HOUSTON – The Harris County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly shooting Tuesday.

Deputies tell Channel 2 a 38-year-old man was shot and killed in his bed on Ann Louise Road near Wheat Street. His girlfriend was asleep next to him.

“The male was inside his residence asleep when an intruder entered the residence, shot him while he was in his bed,” said Sgt. Greg Pinkins with HCSO. "We’re not sure how he got in, but there’s no indication of forced entry,” said Pinkins.

Officers said a man entered the home and shot the victim around 1 a.m.

According to investigators, the girlfriend's five kids were also in the home. The father of the kids picked them up and said his ex-girlfriend and the victim recently started dating.

“What am I supposed to think? This is a problem for my kids. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I’m here to pick them up, at least for now,” said Luis Gomez.

The father said the kids will stay with him in the meantime.

Officers said no one saw the suspect, they only heard the gunshots.

Officials said the girlfriend and her older children are expected to meet with HCSO investigators downtown Tuesday.

Several people were detained as part of the investigation, but they have all been released. Homicide investigators there are no suspects.

KPRC will provide updates when they become available.
