Man shot, killed in his own driveway

HOUSTON – A man was shot and killed just steps from his front door, and police want to track down his killers, officials said.

The deadly shooting happened around 10 p.m. Saturday at a home on Ashburn near Kopman in southeast Houston.

Investigators said John Martinez, 45, had just pulled into his driveway after visiting family in Pasadena. When he got out of his truck, officials said two men ambushed and robbed him, then shot him and left him for dead on his own doorstep.

The gunshots startled his family, which quickly called 911. Martinez was rushed to the hospital where he later died.

Investigators said they believe the killers followed Martinez home. No description of the suspects was available. If you have any information, you're asked to give police a call.
