Man shot, killed by Sugar Land Police

Police: Man was holding a rifle

HOUSTON – A Sugar Land police officer fatally shot a man who threatened officers with a loaded rifle, detectives said.

Officers were called out to a family disturbance at home in the 3300 block of Lakefield about 9 p.m. on Sunday. Detectives said Sean Isensee's father told them that his son threatened him with a hatchet and rock during an argument.

Isensee's parents were waiting for officers outside the home while Isensee barricaded himself inside. Police ordered Isensee, 31, to come out. He came out, but he was carrying a rifle and pointing it toward officers, investigators said.

Officer Greg Suter fired shots at Isensee, wounding him twice. Isensee died at the scene.

Police said they had been called out to the home in the past to handle similar problems.

Suter has been placed on three days of leave pending a routine internal investigation.
