Police are reviewing surveillance video to see if they can catch the thief who carjacked and fatally shot a man in west Harris County.

Shot and bleeding, Cardra Kelly managed to make his way over to a convenience store to get help. He was shot after he refused to cooperate with the suspect.

A network of security cameras at the west Harris County shopping center, the scene of Wednesday night's deadly carjacking, may hold the key to solving Kelly's murder.  Customers at the convenience store where Kelly tried to get help are stunned.

"Oh that's terrible," said Amy Balmerino. "I feel bad for that person's family."

It happened just before midnight Wednesday. Kelly was sitting in his pickup truck on Highway 6 at Pavilion Point when the suspect shot him once in the stomach and took off with his truck. Critically wounded, Kelly stumbled across the parking lot and collapsed right in front of a nearby convenience store. The clerk dialed 9-1-1.

"I usually feel like it's a safe area. I never had any problems here. I've been here 12 years," said Tonya Green.

Kelly, 34, was rushed to the hospital where he later died. Investigators hope surveillance video from the shopping center can at least help them identify a suspect. Customers say Kelly's family deserves justice.

"Hopefully they'll catch him," said Balmerino. "Hopefully they'll get their justice."

We called the property manager to ask about any surveillance video and we are awaiting a response.
