Man shot in head in southeast Houston

HOUSTON – Police are looking for the gunman after a Houston man was shot in the head.

It happened around 5:15 p.m. Thursday near a shopping center in the 10600 block of Edgar in southeast Houston.

Police said three men in their late teens or early 20s got into a car for a "narcotics transaction."

Officials said at one point, one of the men pulled out a gun and a struggle began. Then, 23-year-old Samuel Thompson was shot.

The gunman ran away.

Police said the driver of the vehicle drove to a vacant lot on Scott Street and called 911.

Thompson was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
