Man shot, drives to gas station for help

HOUSTON – A man managed to drive himself to a southwest Houston gas station for help after being shot at a nearby apartment complex.

Police said the call initially came in around 9:40 p.m. Thursday as a person down in a vehicle, but when officers arrived at the Valero station in the 10 thousand block of Westpark Drive, they determined the victim had been shot.

"After further investigation, [we] determined that there were shots fired," said Sergeant G. Jelin with the Houston Police Department.  "They went over [to the Sunridge Villas Apartments] and found the actual location of the shooting."

Investigators determined the man had driven from the apartment complex to the gas station, where someone called 911.

An ambulance picked up the victim from the gas station and transported him to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

According to police, there's no known motive for the shooting.

The victim's identity wasn't immediately released.
