A man was left in critical condition after he was shot answering the door of his southeast Houston home.
It happened at around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at the home on 2200 Leeland and Bastrop Street. Police say the victim had just returned home after leaving a club and had several friends over.
After a few minutes, someone knocked on the front door.
HPD night commander Lt. Larry Crowson said, "They said that they just opened the door, thought it was a friend of theirs and the suspect started shooting."
The victim was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in critical, but stable condition. Police expect the victim to survive.
No one else was hurt. The gunman ran away and remains on the loose.
Police say nothing was stolen and they have no motive for the shooting.
