Man shocked with Taser after late-night chase

HPD: Man may have been drunk

HOUSTON – A chase ended with an officer shocking a man with a Taser, police said.

Houston police said they got reports that a driver was weaving in and out of traffic and swerving on the North Freeway near North Shepherd Drive late Tuesday.

Officers said they tried to pull the man over, but he wouldn't stop.

The man led police and Harris County sheriff's deputies on a chase that covered about 15 miles. The driver finally stopped in a neighborhood along the North Freeway near Richey Road, investigators said.

Detectives said the driver refused to follow officers' orders, and they had to shock him with a Taser.

The man was treated by paramedics and taken into custody.

Police said the driver may have been drinking. He will face driving while intoxicated and evading arrest charges, officials said.
