HOUSTON -

Five people were inside an apartment in northwest Harris County were injured Sunday evening after a driver slammed into the home, pinning one of them against a wall.

The crash happened on FM 1960 and Greenwood Forest.

Officials said a vehicle drove through a parking lot, took out a fence and sped through the apartment's patio before it ended up in the unit's dining room.

The family inside said it sounded like a bomb.

“We were telling him to stop pushing the gas. So he stops it for a second and then again, starts pushing the gas," said resident Shannon Lopez. "At this time, I'm running the opposite way to see if my kids are okay.”

Lopez said his three boys were upstairs at the time of the crash. He and his friend were in the dining area watching football. His friend was pinned against a wall, but was not seriously injured.

Investigators said the driver's vehicle matched the description of a car involved in an earlier hit-and-run accident.

The driver was taken into custody.

No one was seriously injured.
