Man selling movies killed in Third Ward shooting, police say

HOUSTON – A man who was selling movies was killed in a shooting Friday afternoon in the Third Ward, police said.

The shooting was reported about 12:15 p.m. at 3410 Bremond St.

According to Houston police, the victim was sitting in his car at the address selling movies when a man ran up with an assault rifle and opened fire.

The victim, who was known in the neighborhood as No, ran around the corner and collapsed near the intersection of Sampson and McGowen streets. He was taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where he died.

Investigators said they are still trying to determine a motive, but they do not believe the victim was robbed.

Police said the gunman used gloves and clothing to conceal his identity, but they described him as about 6 feet tall and in his 30s.
