HOUSTON – If you've spent time outside recently, you've probably become food for some mosquitoes, and they are very hungry.
"We are dealing with the nuisance mosquito, which is the Asian tiger mosquito, but it is also a day and night feeder," said Dave Beach of West University Public Works Director.
Alice Lin and her friend decided to eat lunch outside Friday. Little did they know, they would become lunch themselves.
Between recent flooding and the unseasonably warm weather, the pesky insects are out in full force. West U public works tells me they usually stop spraying after Halloween, but this year, the mosquitoes have been so bad, they are going to continue through November.
Between 10 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Saturday, you can expect to see trucks driving from street to street spraying for mosquitoes.
"The kids swell up really bad when they get them," said Amy Chen.
Chen's 18-month-old son Caleb was covered up today as he played at the park.
"Check around, make sure you don't have any standing water, overly wet areas, maybe from a leaky irrigation," Beach said.
