HOUSTON – A man was killed after he lost control of his car and drove off the Southwest Freeway.
Police said the driver was traveling southbound on the Southwest Freeway near Beltway 8 when he lost control at the exit ramp and drove through a barricade. Officials said the crash, which happened at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, killed the driver.

The southbound feeder lanes were closed while investigators worked to determine what may have caused the crash.
The lanes reopened shortly before 6 a.m.
