Man killed after drifting out of lane and crashing into metal railing

HOUSTON – Harris County deputies said a driver was killed when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed on Sunday.

According to investigators, the driver was speeding on the Gulf Freeway near Spring Steubner Road around midnight.

The driver drifted out of the lane, and his pickup slammed into the metal railing along the roadway.

The railing went through the windshield and hit the driver, killing him.

Deputies said an autopsy would determine if the driver was under the influence at the time of the crash.

According to officers, there were not signs of alcohol at the scene.
