Man jumps out of bedroom during house fire

Arson is investigating the fire's cause at the southwest Houton home

HOUSTON - A homeowner had to jump out of his bedroom after his house caught fire Friday morning.

It happened around 6 a.m. on Lattimer Drive at Dellfern in southwest Houston.

According to Houston fire officials, the man was the only person at home at the time of the fire. He jumped out of his bedroom window. He hit his head and cut himself upon hitting the ground. He was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries.

Firefighters said there was a small fire in the closet of the bedroom. Crews were quickly able to put out the flames.

Arson officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
