HOUSTON – A man is in critical condition Friday after being shot in the abdomen when he pulled into a driveway in west Houston, police said.
The shooting was reported at 1:45 a.m. at Samuel Lane and Sheffield Boulevard.

Houston police said a man was visiting friends and hanging out. Police said the friends went inside the home, while the man took a quick trip to a nearby store. When he came back and pulled into the driveway, someone shot him in the stomach, police said.
The victim was transported to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition.
Police said officers were not sure if something happened at the store or if he was followed. The people inside the home told police they heard gun shots, but didn’t see anything, police said.
The scene was active until 3:05 a.m.
