HOUSTON -

A man is recovering after he was hit by a car in northeast Houston.

It happened around 5a.m. Friday on Maxey Road and Wood Forest.

Investigators said the man was crossing the street in an unprotected part of Maxey Road when he was hit by a car.

The man hit the front windshield of the car and landed in the ditch next to the road.

Officials said he suffered a broken leg, but was conscious and talking when paramedics arrived.

He was rushed to Ben Taub General Hospital in serious, but stable condition.
