Man hit in head during home invasion

HOUSTON – A man was hit in the head during an home invasion in east Houston.

Houston police said a man and woman broke into a man's garage apartment on Stiles near Harrisburg about 9 p.m. Monday.

At some point, the man was hit with an unknown object, police said.

The victim, who police said is in his 30s, was taken to a nearby fire station by a neighbor.

Once officers arrived, the victim was put in the back of an ambulance and taken to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition.

Detectives said the originally thought the man had been shot because there was so much blood, but doctors said they did not find a bullet wound.

The neighbor who drove the victim to the fire station was taken in for questioning.

Police don't have a motive or any suspects in the case.
