HOUSTON -

A man crossing the road in northwest Houston became the victim of a hit and run driver early Saturday morning.

Houston police arrived on the scene at Airline and East Whitney just after 12:30 a.m.

They said the victim was hit by a dark colored vehicle headed southbound on Airline.

Instead of stopping to help, the driver took off.

The victim was rushed to Ben Taub hospital in serious but stable condition.

Detectives said they are looking for a car with damaged to the driver's side hood area.

HPD said once the driver is found, he or she will face charges for not stopping to help the victim.
