HOUSTON – A man was sentenced to serve two years in federal prison Friday after he admitted to fencing stolen baby formula and medication in the Houston area, officials said.
According to officials, Wassim Hassan Elsaleh, also known as Sam Saleh, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to traffic in the interstate transportation of stolen goods on Feb. 11.
Prosecutors said Elsaleh received stolen merchandise and sold the goods for a fraction of their retail value to several businesses. Officials said the items included infant formula and over-the-counter medication, including Prilosec, Zantac, Claritin and Mucinex.
The scheme ran from April 10, 2012, to May 31, 2014, officials said.
