Man found stabbed to death in apartment

HOUSTON – A woman found her friend stabbed to death in his northwest Harris County apartment Wednesday night.

"She'd been by earlier in the day, and his car was in the parking lot," said Sergeant Ben Beal with the Harris County Sheriff's Office. "She could hear the TV on, but he wouldn't come to the door."

Apparently the victim's friend retrieved a key to the apartment to check on him because he had not shown up to work in several days, and no one had seen him.

"She's saying the door was locked, and that she'd gone ahead and had to get a key from a former roommate," Sgt. Beal said. "So at this point we don't know if his keys were missing, or if there may be another roommate or another set of keys out there."

The woman called the Harris County Sheriff's Office, and deputies responded to the 500 block of Cypress Station around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday.

According to reports, deputies had to obtain a search warrant before entering the apartment, since the victim was the only name on the lease.

When they entered, they found a man who had been stabbed multiple times. Investigators said the body had been there for a few days.

So far, no motive for the attack has been established, but deputies said they believe the victim might have known his attacker, who locked the door when they left.

The victim's name was not immediately released.
