HOUSTON -

Police are investigating after a man was found shot and tied up in his apartment Tuesday night.

Residents at the Del Mar Apartments in southeast Houston told investigators they heard gunshots at around 10:15 p.m. When witnesses entered the victim's apartment, they found the man tied up, with a gunshot wound to his neck.

The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Juan Almaguer.

Officers say the man's 7-year-old daughter was also in the apartment, hiding in another room. She was not hurt.

"They found that one of the neighbors had been shot in the neck and tied up in his apartment. Officers also found that the victim's 7 year old daughter was inside the apartment hiding," said Larry Crowson with the Houston Police Department.

The victim was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital in serious condition, and is expected to survive.

Witnesses told investigators that two men and a women left the area around the time when the shots were fired. Police say the victim told them he let one of the suspects in but the other two were not welcome.

As soon as the victim is well enough to talk, police plan on questioning him about who is involved.
