HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - A man is facing an animal cruelty charge stemming from a June 1 incident.

Juan Alfredo Garcia-Ramirez, 37, is accused of striking a woman's dog with a club, according to police. Authorities say Garcia-Ramirez then killed the dog with an unknown object without the consent of the owner.

He is being held on $30,000 bond in the Harris County Jail with a felony charge of cruelty to non-livestock animals.
