Man dies from wounds sustained during park shooting, shooter charged

HOUSTON – One of the four men shot at in northeast Houston on Sept. 23 has died.

Donavin Williams, 28, was pronounced dead on Sept. 29.

A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting.

Kedrine Lavel Young, 25, is charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was arrested on Sept. 26 without incident.

Houston homicide detectives said four people were shot around 4:50 p.m. in the 6900 block of Apache Street.

Police said a group of people were fighting at Houston Gardens park when a man pulled out a gun and started firing.

Williams and Alfred Breedlove, 28, were taken to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital in critical condition, police said. Williams was then transferred to Ben Taub General Hospital.

Two other victims, Denarik Gray, 26, and Dominique Belle, 26, were also taken to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital in a private vehicle. Both are expected to survive their injuries, according to police.

Young was arrested Monday without incident, police said.
