SOUTH HOUSTON, Texas – A man died after a vehicle fell on top of him, investigators said.
City of South Houston police said Vaughan Lirette, 81, was working on a Volkswagen van in the 1300 block of 11th on Monday night.
On Tuesday morning, Lirette was found dead under the van, which had apparently fallen on top of him, officials said.
"It's hard to believe something like this could happen," said Lloyd Duncan, Lirette's son-in-law. "We were just concerned how long -- maybe he suffered underneath it. But we understand it was instant.
