HOUSTON – Police are investigating a fatal crash at the 5800 South Loop East service road on Aug. 27.
A dump truck was eastbound on the feeder road, made an unsafe lane change and ran the red light at the intersection of Crestmont, according to police.

The dump truck then struck a black Chevrolet Silverado that was northbound on Crestmont, police said.
The driver of the Silverado was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the dump truck was detained at the scene. He was determined not to be impaired and was released pending further investigation.
