Man confronts burglar who broke in while family was at church

Burglar claimed to have gun, man says

ALDINE, Texas – An Aldine man said he confronted another man who broke into his home Sunday while the rest of his family was at church.

Carmello Ramos shared surveillance video with KPRC2, showing a man entering the home and then walking out with a bag of items. Then, Ramos is seen confronting the man.

Ramos said he was the only one home when the break-in happened. He said he had stepped outside to have a cigarette when he saw the burglar walking outside.

"I told him to drop it," Ramos said. "He said, 'No.' I said, 'Drop it!' He said, 'No.' I mentioned it several times, and then he said he had a gun."

Ramos said he then ran inside, called police and grabbed his car keys. He came back outside to try and track down the thief, but he wasn’t able to find him.

Anyone with information about the burglary should call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
