Teen confesses to deadly shooting in parking lot of Fuzzy's Pizza, police say

HOUSTON – A teenager was arrested and has confessed to murder after one person was shot and killed in the parking lot of a southwest Houston pizza restaurant on Monday, according to police.

Police said Jeremiah Carter, 19, left the Golden Chick restaurant when he got into a fight with two people in front of Fuzzy's Pizza at 8914 Westheimer Road.

According to police, during the struggle Carter pulled out a handgun and opened fire on Yousef Almasri, shooting him multiple times.

New details were revealed in court documents Thursday. Police said Carter and a woman were inside the Golden Chick's restaurant, next door, just before the shooting.

Court documents said the woman was there to fill out a job application. Police used that job application to find the woman on Facebook. That led them to Carter's Facebook page and a picture of him holding two handguns, including a pistol they said matched the description of the one used in the shooting.

Other photos of Carter holding various guns were also found on the social media page, according to police. They said Carter also matched the description of the shooter. Police also said they further identified Carter by using a previous jail booking photo.

“The verbal argument escalated. Our shooting suspect pushed our victim. The victim pushed him back," detective Robert Klementich said.

Police said Carter was arrested at his mother's apartment on Wednesday. He now faces a murder charge.

Police said there is no motive for the shooting.

Almarsi, 26, was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital Southwest.

Police are investigating if robbery may have been the motive. They did not know of any connection between Carter and Almarsi.

Carter is expected in court Thursday.
