Man confesses to 1986 killing of Houston man, police say

HOUSTON – A man was arrested Thursday after he confessed to killing a man 30 years ago, police said.

According to Houston police, 19-year-old Randy Erekson was found shot to death Feb. 18, 1986. He was taken to Spring Branch Memorial Hospital, where he died.

Detectives said they had originally determined Lawrence Fox was a suspect in the case, but were unable to obtain enough evidence to charge him.

Police said Fox called 911 on Thursday and said he wanted to confess to the crime.

Fox, 56, told investigators that the shooting was motivated by money owed from a drug sale, police said.

Fox was charged with murder.
