BAYTOWN, Texas - A Baytown resident returned home to find himself the victim of a burglary.
David Crow said whoever broke into his home in the 3400 block of Lantern on Sunday wedged a chair against the front door. Crow had to kick it in just to get inside.
Once he got inside, he discovered his entire apartment had been ransacked.
Among the items he said were missing, his 42-inch flat screen TV, five of his Pittsburgh Steelers jerseys and a PlayStation 3, along with some video games.
"I felt violated somebody was in my house," said Crow.
The thieves smashed their way through a back-bedroom window to get inside, officials said.
Crow said his pit bull is a good watchdog and is free to roam around the apartment, but on the day of the burglary, she was crated.
"It's a coincidence. That day she was in heat, so I put her in the cage," Crow said.
Crow said it's lucky for the crooks he didn't catch them in the act.
"To be honest with you, if I would have come home and they were in the house, they'd be dead. I've got a concealed handgun license and they would have been dead," said Crow.
Police collected evidence at the scene and said they'll continue to investigate.
Anyone with information is asked to call Baytown Crime Stoppers at 281-427-TIPS.
