HOUSTON – Kordarell Williams remains in jail Wednesday accused of child abuse after investigators said he hit a 7-year-old boy 62 times within five minutes in Acres Home.
Williams, 27, was charged with injury to a child in court.
The charge stems from a surveillance video that shows Williams pull over on James Franklin Street last Thursday and use his hands and a belt to hit the boy.
"He struck this child 62 times, put him in a headlock and knocked him over on numerous occasions with the blows,” said Constable Alan Rosen with Harris County Precinct 1 Constable's Office.
Investigators said Williams admitted to hitting the boy, but only 16 times for stealing a phone charger.
The boy is back in his mother's care after medical evaluation.
