Man charged in cold case murder of woman sexually assaulted, killed in abandoned warehouse

HOUSTON – Houston police say they have solved a cold case, tracking down and arresting the suspect who sexually assaulted and killed a Houston mother, then left her body in an abandoned warehouse in 2014.

Lucius Alexander Williams, 34, has been charged with murder in the death of Lakeisha Perkins.

Perkins' body was found in a warehouse in the 5900 block of Wayland on July 22, 2014.  Autopsy results from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences revealed that she had been sexually assaulted with a foregin object before her death and died from her injuries.

The case went cold and, after the one-year anniversary of her death, HPD homicide investigators stood with Perkins' family at a press conference pleading with the public for information.

The victim's mother, Jane Perkins-Briscoe, and her stepfather, Moses Briscoe, talked about how their daughter was responsible, always called home, loved to take walks and loved watching "Wheel of Fortune."  They also spoke of the impact her death left on her children.

"She called me that afternoon about 2 ... after 2, and that's the last I heard from her," said Perkins-Briscoe. "When she didn't come back around 7, I knew something was wrong."

Perkins was 35 years old and left behind two daughters and a son.  They are all now in their teens.

Further investigation and evidence from the scene identified Williams as the suspect in the case.  On Monday, he was taken into custody and subsequently charged.
