HOUSTON -

A man is charged in connection to a cockfighting ring bust on Houston's south side.  

According to the Houston Police Department, officers received a noise complaint call about a house on Mary Kay Lane and Schurmier Street around midnight on March 29.  When officers arrived on the scene they found a crowd had gathered for a cockfighting event.

Officers arrested a total of 11 men, including Rafael Rivera-Valdez.

The 40-year-old is charged with cockfighting and being held in the Harris County Jail on $35,000 bond. 

Authorities said the other men were ticketed.
