Man charged in church parking lot shooting death

HOUSTON – A man has been charged with the shooting death of a Houston man.

Houston police said Jamon Derrell Walker, 23, is charged with capitol murder. He's accused of killing of 54-year-old Gerald Lynn Williams.

Police said Williams was found dead in a church parking lot at 3941 Almeda Genoa just before 2 a.m. on July 18.

A black Mercedes-Benz was seen leaving the scene and identified as a possible suspect vehicle.  

Upon further investigation, police identified Walker as the suspect. He was arrested on Friday while driving Williams' vehicle, the Mercedes.  

Police said the motive in the shooting was robbery.
