Man charged in case of teen found murdered in Sam Houston Nat'l Forest

Investigators say Christian Zamora left evidence at the crime scene

WALKER COUNTY, Texas – A teenager was found murdered in the Sam Houston National Forest and another man is now charged in the killing.

Deputies tell Local 2 they found the body of Josael Guevara, a 16-year-old sophomore at Klein Forest High School, Monday near FM 2929 at Four Notch Road in Walker County.

Captain Tim Whitecotton of the Walker Co. Sheriff's Office said it appeared Guevara had suffered a violent death. His Klein Forest ID card was found at the scene, as well as another piece of evidence that investigators said led them to the suspect's vehicle.

Christian Zamora, 22, was arrested and is now facing murder charges.

Whitecotton declined to discuss a motive in the case, citing the ongoing investigation. He did say other suspects could also have been involved in Guevara's death.

Counselors are available for Klein Forest High School students.
