Man called 911, said he shot and killed ex-wife
A man was in custody Monday morning, after investigators said he shot and killed his ex-wife.
Investigators said the man called 911 around 1 a.m. Monday and confessed to shooting and killing a woman at a home in northeast Harris County.
Paramedics rushed to the house on Peppergate Lane at Rainglen Lane. Medical responders tried to save the woman, but she died of her injuries in the home. Officials said she was shot in the stomach.
"I assumed I heard fireworks. And little did I know I may have been hearing her getting shot," said neighbor, Chelsi Hall.
Authorities told Local 2 there were two previous domestic disturbance calls made from the residence in 2012.
Deputies said the man and woman were living separately. It's still uncertain what brought them together and what set off the deadly chain of events.
Officials said the man was taken downtown to be questioned by homicide detectives. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
Investigators say the man told EMS he shot her in self defense.
Names of those involved were not immediately released.
