HOUSTON -

A man is in the hospital with burns to 20 percent of his body, after crashing his SUV in southwest Houston.

Officials said the man was on Hirame Clarke and Allum when he lost control around 9:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said the man swerved across the grassy median, hit a tree and that caused the SUV to flip.

The man was thrown from the SUV.

Officials said the SUV caught fire, but it was quickly put out by firefighters.

The man was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in serious, but stable condition.

Police will test the man's blood to see if he was intoxicated.
