HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A man is recovering after he was shot in the back in northwest Harris County Monday morning.
Police said Guillermo Vargas was parked in the 3100 block of Crestdale at the Waterford Place Apartments when he was approached by two men asking for a cigarette. The men then pulled Vargas out of the vehicle, punched him and then shot him in the back, according to police.

He was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
The two men got away before police arrived.
