Man attempts to return items he just stole from Home Depot, deputies say

HOUSTON – A man was arrested after he attempted to return items to a Home Depot that he had just stolen, officials said.

Harris County Constable Precinct 4 said the man, later identified as Tyrone Morgan, 42, stole more than $300 worth of items from the store at 20100 North Freeway.

Store employees reported seeing Morgan walk to his car, where he removed the stolen items. He then walked back into the store, retrieved several Home Depot plastic bags and walked back to his car.

Officials said Morgan placed the stolen items in the plastic bags, returned to the store and attempted to return the items for a refund.

Deputies said as they arrived to the store and attempted to stop Morgan for questioning he began running.
A perimeter was set up and Morgan was quickly apprehended, deputies said.

Morgan was arrested and charged with theft and evading arrest. He was booked into the Harris County Jail on a $1,500 bond.

Deputies said the items were returned to the store.
