HOUSTON - Police are looking for a man who attacked a girl on a southeast Houston high school campus.
Officials said a man was walking the hallways at Stephen F. Austin High School, 1700 Dumble Street, at 12:45 p.m. on Feb. 4 when he asked a female student for directions to the office. He then grabbed her around the waist and started kissing her mouth and neck, police said. The girl was able to break free briefly but was then pinned against a wall, investigators said. The girl escaped a second time and the man ran off.
The school was placed on lockdown and parents were called about the incident.
Two days later, the man was near the school when he made advances on a student walking to the campus. Police said he fondled her and shouted out, "Hey girl, you want to go with me."
The suspect was caught on surveillance video inside Austin High School. HISD increased patrols in the area.
Students have been told what to do the next time they see a starnger on campus.
"Look out and contact any teachers, staff, police officer, any HISD to contact them," said student Lazaro Sanchez.
Police said they want to catch the suspect as quickly as possible.
"We've had additional marked patrols and unmarked officers in the area trying to locate the suspect and talk to witnesses," said HISD assistant chief Robert Mock.
HISD released the following statement:
"HISD's Police Department is working with Crime Stoppers to help find a suspect responsible for trespassing on Austin High School (1700 Humble) on February 4, 2013 and sexually harassing a female student.
Two days later, the same suspect was reported soliciting a sexual encounter with a minor student nearby campus. To ensure the safety of all the students, HISD Police have increased patrols on campus and in the surrounding area.
In addition, Crime Stoppers has released additional information and surveillance video of the suspect on campus to help find the suspect."
