Police: Suspect pistol-whipped victim

RICHMOND, Texas – A man was assaulted while leaving his apartment for work Tuesday morning by a man with a gun, Richmond police said.

At around 5:30 a.m., a 41-year-old man was leaving the Mustang Crossing Apartments at 1800 Mustang Ave. He had just gotten into his truck when a man pushed him and demanded his wallet, police said.

The victim said he screamed for help and the suspect hit him in the face with a black, compact handgun, causing injuries to his face and head.

"The suspect hit the victim in the face with the pistol a couple of times and hit him in the head a couple of times," Master Sgt. Lowell Neinast said.

Investigators said the suspect then ran away without getting anything.
