Deputies arrest 21-year-old Christopher Ernest Braughton after shooting

HOUSTON – Harris County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a road rage incident that left one man dead and the other man's son in jail.

Deputies arrested 21-year-old Christopher Ernest Braughton after a shooting on Greenland Oaks Court near Park Springs Drive.

Harris County Precinct 4 Constable patrol officers were initially called out for reports of a road rage incident between a man on a motorcycle and the driver of a small vehicle.

Investigators were originally told the motorcycle rider followed the vehicle home, but it turns out the two men were actually neighbors.

Witnesses told investigators the two men got into a fight and then Braughton, the driver's son, came out of his house, shooting the man who had been on the motorcycle. Witnesses told investigators when the suspect came out of the house with gun, the victim put up his hands up and was starting to back away.

Braughton declined to give investigators a statement at the advice of his attorney.

The victim hasn't been identified, but a neighbor told Local 2 he was a veteran. Others also described the suspect as a good person, who was protecting his father.
